Current verified pricing status
At the October 18 check, the US English Steam listing did not show a verified purchase amount. The game was listed as not yet available, with Early Access planned for October 21, 2026. Store pages often show a price only once a game can be bought. That means the price should appear on or near launch day.
Because no amount was verified, this wiki does not quote a price. Search results that state a figure before launch should explain where it came from. If they cannot point to the official store, treat the number as unconfirmed. A guessed price can mislead players planning a purchase.
Once the game is purchasable, a reliable price note should record the currency, the region, the edition and the time it was checked. That is an editorial verification step, not a known discount or offer. We will add a dated price here when Early Access goes live. Regional prices may differ.
What the developer says about version 1.0
The Early Access section of the Steam page says the developer intends to increase the price at version 1.0. That is the only official pricing intention found in the research. It describes a future change rather than a present dollar figure. It also implies the Early Access price will be lower than the eventual full price.
The Steam page targets roughly one year in Early Access, depending on community input. That means the planned price increase has no fixed date either. Version 1.0 has not been scheduled. Any claim about exactly when the price will rise is speculation.
If the developer publishes a specific amount or a pricing announcement, we will cite it directly. Until then, the only firm facts are the October 21 Early Access date and the plan to raise the price later. Buying during Early Access is the developer's intended cheaper entry point. The exact saving is unknown.
Is Escape from Playtime free?
Nothing in the official material describes Escape from Playtime as free to play. The developer's own statement about raising the price at version 1.0 assumes the game has a price. The official trailers do not support a free-to-play claim either. Treat free-to-play rumours as unverified.
The confusion often comes from the open beta. From October 1 to October 4, enrolled players could test the game without buying it. That was temporary testing, and access expired when the window closed. Taking part in the beta did not give anyone ownership of the game.
The official release date trailer and 360 cinematic trailer both name Steam Early Access and the October 21 date. Neither description lists a retail amount. The cinematic trailer's beta signup text was a time-limited invitation, not a pricing announcement. It ended on October 4.
Game price versus Midnight CatNap merchandise
Mob Entertainment's official store sells a limited release Midnight CatNap 14-inch plush. Its product page says the purchase includes a code for an exclusive Midnight CatNap skin in Escape from Playtime. The same page states that the Steam game is not included. The plush price is therefore not the price of the game.
The merchandise FAQ confirms that a separate Steam game is required to redeem the cosmetic code. The code is emailed separately, normally within one to five business days. Each plush comes with one code, and each code can be redeemed once. Redemption is meant to become available once the game is live.
If you see a price connected to CatNap, check whether it refers to the plush. Buying the plush does not let you play Escape from Playtime. You will still need to buy the game on Steam. Our CatNap article explains the skin in more detail.
Things that have not been confirmed
The research did not verify a launch discount for Escape from Playtime. It also did not find a regional price table or a preorder charge. No free-to-play promise or DLC price was established either. All of these remain unknown.
Some search snippets discuss what players would be willing to pay. Those are opinions rather than prices. They should not be quoted as the cost of the game. Only the official store can set the price.
We will not publish a price until it can be checked on the Steam page. When we do, we will include the region and currency. If the price changes during Early Access, we will date each update. That keeps old figures from being mistaken for current ones.
Where to buy and what you need
The official place to buy Escape from Playtime is its Steam page, app ID 2087540. Mob Entertainment is listed as both developer and publisher there. The official FAQ says the planned launch is on Steam only. No console or mobile store version has been announced.
Before buying, check that your PC meets the requirements. The listing names 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12 and 8 GB of RAM as minimum requirements. The minimum processors are an Intel Core i3-9100 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500, and the minimum graphics cards are a GTX 1650 or RX 470. No storage requirement was verified.
Wishlisting the game on Steam is the simplest way to be notified when it becomes purchasable. You will see the price on the store page at that point. Be cautious of third-party sites selling keys before launch. Only the official listing was verified for this page.
Is it worth waiting for a price?
Since the developer plans to raise the price at version 1.0, Early Access is likely to be the cheaper time to buy. However, Early Access also means a game that is still changing. The publisher plans more zones, characters, features and story during development. Your purchase supports that process.
The initial Early Access package is described as eight Smiling Critters, one starter zone and a core enemy lineup. Players who want a finished game may prefer to wait. Players who enjoyed the beta may want to join early. That choice depends on what you value.
Whatever you decide, check the official Steam page for the real price on launch day. Read the store's Early Access section to understand the plan. Our Early Access article summarises it. We will update this page once a verified price is available.
